Buttermilk Buns

This is another recipe out of my Great Grandma's recipes. I've found tons like it floating around in internet-land. It's easy, delicious, and can be created into a bazillion tasty treats.

Buttermilk Buns

Dissolve:

4 Tablespoons of yeast

1 Tablespoon of sugar

1 cup of warm water

(let sit for about 10 minutes)

Add:

4 eggs

1 1/2 cups of sugar

In a Saucepan warm:

4 cups of Buttermilk

1 cup of unsalted butter

Remove from heat and add:

2 teaspoons of baking soda

2 teaspoons of salt

Stir

Slowly mix buttermilk mixture into egg mixture (make sure the buttermilk is just warm though cause you don't want to cook the eggs!). Gradually add 13 cups of flour to form a soft dough. Place in greased bowl and let rise till doubled (1 hour). Punch down and make into buns or cinnamon rolls or crazy bread.

YUM.

Oh yeah you should bake the buns at 350 for about 20 minutes.
