Wreath

I did a little project.
I look at it and it seems unfinished.
Maybe it will grow on me.
Sometimes that happens.
But for now it hangs by the door.
Right where I see it.
All the time.
I will soon figure out if it will grow on me.

This was a super easy project.

Stuff you need:
1) a grape vine wreath
2) burlap ribbon
3) tin stars (I happen to make them at a super Saturday for my Christmas tree.... )

Wrap burlap around wreath.
Wire on stars.

hang.

BAHAHAHA now that is a set of super complicated directions!!!!!

Family Photo Wall

We had some family pictures done when we moved
and I FINALLY
got a round to the project of putting them up!

We have a huge (long wall)
in our living room so I printed
6 8x10's and
 1 poster (24x36).
Thank-goodness for costco!
 So convenient!
They were all ready the next day!

I got a great tip to buy canvas' at the dollar store for 1 buck!
So I put all the 8x10's on canvas.

This project is super easy
and it turned out great.
AND
it saved me money!

You will need
1) photos
2) canvas
3) modge podge
4) foam brush
5) canvas
6) scissors
7) scrapbook paper

Apply a layer of modge podge to the canvas.
Stick photo on canvas.
Let dry for a couple minutes.

Cut a strip of the scrapbook paper the thickness of the canvas.
Modge Podge on.
 {I found that 1 piece of 12x12 did my 6 8x10's but I had to be really careful and some of my edges are pieced with smaller bits}

Apply modge podge over photo.
Put canvas or other textured material over glue
Peel off after rubbing it on the photo.

Let the glue dry and hang.

Dresser Mess

There are a few area's in my house that get heaped with Junk.
My dresser in my bedroom is one of these places.
Between Dusty's man junk
{wallets, keys, receipts, rocks, etc}
and my junk
{jewelry and make-up}
PLUS the TV
and the pretty stuff
{candles and frames}

Something had to be done.
I went to our wood pile.
I was looking for a 1x6 piece of barn wood.
instead I found a 2x4.
It was already the right length.
perfect.

Now I am sure most of you pinterest people have seen the jewelry hangers with the fancy knobs.
Such knobs can cost up to 11 dollars each.
Yikes.
Dusty has a bunch of black finishing nails for rustic wood projects.
I grabbed a handful and
Wa La
Almost free
Jewelry hanger.

Eventually this dresser will be refinished.
When I have time.

Oh Holy.....pose when the camera comes out!

I was trying to take a couple pictures of new craft.
Penny insisted she needed to get in on the action.
It's a good thing she is cute!

The new craft.

The new craft in action.

Oh how lovely are your..... Rafia

I spent part of this Saturday crafting.... I would of preferred shopping but one trip to Costco kiboshed any further shopping excursions (I did politely suggest HE could stay home... Hahaha) ANYWAYs,
I managed to finish two out of my three trees and I love them so much I might just keep them up year round (although I say that about most of my Christmas decor).

Perfect as a Pear

This is the first year I've ever canned solo.
It's been pretty awesome.
My storage room actually looks like a storage room.
I've done
Peaches
Peach jam
Strawberry jam
Pears
and I have a box of apples sitting in my living room.
I really had a good time.
My kids have too.
My house is DESTROYED.
Why clean when mom is so clearly distracted.
The mess has been worth it.

 Aren't Pears so Pretty Jarred?
I wanted to put them around my house as decoration.
They made my kitchen seem so kitcheny

Penny isn't a huge fan of canning (yet) but by the time we did pears she at least knew that this was her spot and that she wasn't getting held. Peaches were a LONG LOUD process.

Pears
My syrup recipe is:
1 cup of sugar to 5 cups of water.
I hot packed my pears.
They are perfect
they don't taste like they've been drowning in syrup.
and it's just enough sugar to keep them from getting all dirty (brown)
